I run the Moms and Tots in the Saxonwold area. I am a mother of two and a qualified junior primary teacher, with remedial experience.
I taught grade ones for many years, & then branched into Remedial Education when my daughter was born. I then took a Sabbatical when my son was born. Once he started school it was time to for me to get back into my passion… teaching.
I was very fortunate that the Moms and Tots in my area was up for sale, & there began my ‘Tots Family’.
My classes are run from a workshop at my home in a beautifully treed, tranquil garden. I offer morning and afternoon classes Monday to Friday.
Moms and Tots consists of a two hour, once a week workshop, that Moms attend with their Tot (other care-givers are welcome if Mom can’t attend). Workshops are small & age-specific.
I strive to create a fun, stimulating environment where Mom and Tot can bond and spend special one-on-one time together. Tots develop fine and gross motor skills through play. Their social and emotional development is enhanced whilst interacting with other children of a similar age in a nurturing environment.
- Free play, where the Tot has an opportunity to explore the various toys, and play one-on-one with Mom.
- Ring-time, which includes singing with actions, musical instruments and dancing.
- Story time.
- Creative activities.
- Messy play, which includes a number of sensory activities, and water-play in Summer.
- Obstacle course.
- Lastly, garden play, where the Tot has a chance to play on the gross motor apparatus. At this stage, they are given a snack and water or juice.
Moms have a cup of tea and ‘tea-treat’, and have the opportunity to meet other Moms.
Moms and their Tots are my passion, and I pride myself in running my workshops with a personal touch!
